# Apple macOS and Amethyst Tiling Window Manager

Recently, I acquired a [macOS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacOS) computer (MacBook Air M2). I have spent this past months moving and adapting my Linux Desktop configurations to macOS and have discovered [Amethyst](https://github.com/ianyh/Amethyst) as an ideal [Tiling Window Manager](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiling_window_manager). Amethyst is similar to [XMonad](https://xmonad.org/) and works in conjunction with [SKHD](https://github.com/koekeishiya/skhd) for managing keyboard shortcuts. Most of the Interface management uses Amethyst shortcuts, while everything else can be set with SKHD. Most of the macOS shortcuts are available. I use SKHD to launch programs and run other commands.

Overall, the macOS experience with Amethyst is great if you already are a costumed to a Tiling Window Manager on Linux. I come from using i3 WM and can say that after using Amethyst, I now wish to move to [XMonad](https://xmonad.org/) when working with a Linux Desktop.
