Authoring a Millenniata Data DVD over time

Prepare a personal archive M-Disc DVD

Millenniata DVDs (M-Discs) are recordable DVDs which are advertised to last more than 100 years (approximately 1000 years). These discs are available as DVDs and Blu-rays, which can be recorded with special Disc Burner Devices like the LG GP65NB60. I use these special discs to archive all the written material I produce throughout a whole year, and each year I record a new disc. However, I also keep archiving new work throughout the year on a re-writable DVD-RW disc, which serves as a temporary buffer of the final M-Disc.

Authoring an M-Disc over time is useful because it helps you know what to include, organize the content and test the reading of what you wish to archive. You also have a functional Read-only backup in case of emergency. This method of burning a temporary archive buffer has helped me free my mind of worrying when to archive and over-spending on blank M-Discs.
